Listening to hear – Listening to heal
Workshop based on Nonviolent Communication
with Anna Banas
Saturday 29 February, 1-4pm
These workshops will explore Nonviolent Communication as a way to connect with ourselves and others in our daily lives, focusing on listening to hear what lies underneath all the words.
It will be an opportunity to get to know or get to practice the four steps of NVC: Observations, Feelings, Needs & Requests. We will also look at ways in which we can listen to hear and heal, and experiment with what is known as ’empathy killers’.
We will do all of this working on examples from your own lives – to the extent you will choose to. We will explore ideas we already hold about communicating and see how they serve us in every day communication with ourselves and others.
We will focus on the small, possible steps we can take towards communicating to connect.
During this workshop we will focus on practising Nonviolent Communication as a way of connecting with others, especially in uncovering the feelings and needs that lie beneath the words they use. We will practise listening to difficult or painful messages, to connect with our shared humanity.
